The Five Favs 2025 Round Up

The Top Five of The 2025 Five Favs

This year, I launched a new blog series called The Five Favs. It’s a series that’s all about telling the stories behind some of the favorite things we surround ourselves with in our sewing spaces.

The idea sprung from my love of movie lists. At the end of every year, I look forward to seeing all of my go-to movie podcast/YouTube accounts putting out their year end lists (although some creators don’t wait for the end of year to make lists- they put top five lists out for everything, and I love it). I thought it would be fun to play with this idea in the quilting world. Since we spend so much time in our sewing spaces, they contain interesting snapshots of who we are as creators, and can offer a sneak peek into other aspects of our lives, too. And so, the creation of The Five Favs blog, with guests sharing their top five items in their sewing spaces.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with eleven different designers this year, who all shared what they love in their sewing spaces. And as the year went on, I noticed some trends and overlaps in the designers favorite things. So why not put out a top five of The Five Favs! These are the top items that my 2025 guests loved talking about.

Let’s get into it!

Millie & Bun Design's Five Favs round up from 2025 includes the number 5 most talked about item in the designer's sewing space, the cutting table.

#5 - Cutting Tables

I was so impressed by the cutting tables everyone highlighted. Most designers modified these tables to fit their particular needs, with some impressive IKEA-hacking going on. With storage solutions and clever ways to streamline processes, I was definitely getting some cutting table envy!

Millie & Bun Design's Five Favs round up from 2025 includes the number 4 most talked about item in the designer's sewing space, fabric.

#4 - Fabric

It’s no surprise that quilters love their fabrics. Is there anything more exciting than seeing a stack of fabric and imagining all the creative possibilities that exist in that stack?? I loved hearing about the special fabric that is just waiting for the right project to come along, as well as the tried and true colors that some designers rely on to get just the right look they want to achieve. And that feeling you get when you pair just the right fabric with just the right project? Priceless!

Millie & Bun Design's Five Favs round up from 2025 includes the number 3 most talked about item in the designer's sewing space, organization.

#3 - Organization

It’s true: quilters often have a lot of stuff. All the thread and the tools and the fabric and everything else you use to create. It can be helpful to have an organized system in place, and everyone has their own preferred methods. It was so fun (and maybe a little inspiring??) to see how people use their spaces to store their goods.

Millie & Bun Design's Five Favs round up from 2025 includes the number 2 most talked about item in the designer's sewing space, sewing accessories.

#2 - Sewing Accessories

These are all the items that help make our quilts come to life. From irons that create the perfect press, to sewing machines that help us create just the right look, to tools that have a ton of meaning behind them- we all have different items in our sewing spaces that we couldn’t live without. These items might make our lives easier, or they could bring color and joy to the space, or they could just be workhorses that help us get the job done. Whatever it is, we love having these tools to help us create.

Millie & Bun Design's Five Favs round up from 2025 includes the number 1 most talked about item in the designer's sewing space, art/decor/wall hangings.

#1 - Art/Decor/Wall Hangings

I loved seeing this at the top of the favs because each one is so personal. The things we choose to hang on our walls are amazing reminders of what brings us joy and brings life to our spaces. Each one has a story to tell, and I loved hearing all those stories from my guests.

Thank You!!

It was such a joy working with all of these amazing designers this past year. I want to give a thank you to each one for sharing their spaces, and a huge thank you to everyone that checked the blog out! I hope you learned some new things, found some new designers to follow, and got inspired to make something in your own sewing space.

Here are all 12 designers that participated in The Five Favs this year- click on each to see their top five.

Stay tuned for a fresh batch of designers for 2026! And Happy New Year to you all!

With lots of love,

Lisa from Millie & Bun Designs
